The bank or credit union must then resolve the issue in 45 days, unless the disputed transactions were conducted in a foreign country, were conducted within 30 days of account opening, or were debit card point-of-sale purchases. If you are asked to follow up in writing and you do not do so within ten business days, the bank or credit union is not required to temporarily credit your account during the course of its investigation. For example, the bank or credit union may require you to provide written confirmation of the error if you initially provided the information by telephone. In certain circumstances, however, it does not have to issue a temporary credit. If the bank or credit union can’t complete its investigation within ten (or 20) business days as applicable, it must generally issue a temporary credit to your account for the amount of the disputed transaction, minus a maximum of $50, while it continues to investigate. Your bank or credit union then has three business days to report its findings to you. The bank or credit union must correct an error within one business day after determining that an error has occurred. Vancity charges a $10.00 service fee for processing incoming wire transfers.Once you notify your bank or credit union, it generally has ten business days to investigate the issue (20 business days if the account has been open less than 30 days). We have no control over the imposition of these fees and are not advised of these fees in advance of the funds being sent.

The sending institution and intermediary financial institution may deduct service charges prior to the wire arriving at Vancity. Please note incomplete wire instructions may result in funds being returned to the sending financial institution. You can minimize any currency exchange costs by sending the funds in the currency of the recipient’s financial institution. We cannot advise on how much the extra fees will be as it depends on which intermediary financial institution it goes through. This means direct deposits are not always direct bank to bank and could require a middle man to help relay the transfer. Sending Wire fees are $35 if the funds are going outside of Canada and $20 if sent as Canadian dollars within Canada.Īdditional fees may apply if an intermediary financial institution is required to relay the transfer to its final destination. Please ensure that the recipient financial institution is able to receive funds in the currency you wish to send. All the information you’ll need to provide is on that form to give to the sender.
